The ballet Giselle tells the tragic, romantic story of a beautiful young peasant girl named Giselle and a disguised nobleman named Albrecht, who fall in love. But when Albrechts true identity is revealed by his rival, Hilarion, Giselle goes mad and dies of heartbreak. However, Giselle does not stay dead and is summoned back as a spirit by the vengeful Willis, ghosts of unmarried women betrayed by their lovers who dance men to death by exhaustion.
